WHY THERE IS NO LUNCH STOP IN METEORA
There is intentionally no scheduled restaurant lunch stop during the Meteora section.
This is an adventure-focused product.
Rather than reducing your 4-hour+ Meteora experience to spend an hour sitting in a restaurant, we use the available time to explore.
You will have:
- A seaside brunch opportunity during the morning journey
- The option to bring your own snacks
- A seaside dinner opportunity on the return journey
This gives you more Meteora and more adventure while still providing practical opportunities to eat during the long day.
ONBOARD MEAL PRE-ORDER APP
The morning and evening seaside stops are intentionally kept efficient so that the maximum amount of time can be dedicated to Meteora.
During the coach journey, guests can use our onboard meal pre-order system to:
- View the available menu
- Choose food and drinks
- Place the order before arriving
- Prepay the order
This gives the restaurant time to prepare meals in advance.
Less waiting at the restaurant means more time to relax, eat and enjoy the seaside surroundings during the scheduled break.
Meals and drinks remain optional and are not included in the tour price.
BUGGY & DRIVER INFORMATION
Each electric buggy accommodates a maximum of 2 people.
At least 1 qualified driver is required for every 2 participants.
Drivers must:
- Be at least 21 years old
- Have held a valid driving licence for at least 2 years
- Bring their valid driving licence on the day of the tour
- If both guests sharing a buggy meet the driver requirements, they are welcome to switch drivers during the tour and share the driving experience.
- For odd-numbered groups, or where one participant does not wish to drive, 1 non-driving guest may travel as a passenger in the guide’s vehicle, subject to availability.
- Passengers must be at least 8 years old.
- The buggy experience is limited to a maximum of 7 participants.
- The Athens–Meteora transportation is shared with other travelers.
EASY-TO-DRIVE ELECTRIC UTVs
No previous off-road driving experience is necessary.
The vehicles are:
- Automatic
- Fully electric
- Easy to operate
- Comfortable for two people
- Suitable for first-time UTV drivers

SAFETY
Safety is a priority throughout the buggy experience.
Before departure:
- All drivers receive a vehicle briefing
- Driving instructions are provided
- Safety equipment is supplied
- Helmets are provided
- Goggles are available when required
The tour follows carefully selected guided on- and off-road routes.
Guests must follow their guide’s instructions throughout the experience.
Routes can be modified if weather, road conditions or accessibility make any section unsuitable.
ECO-FRIENDLY & SILENT FOREST EXPERIENCE
One of the most distinctive parts of this tour is the use of pure electric UTVs.
There is no conventional engine noise while driving through the forests.
This allows you to experience:
- The sound of the forest
- The natural surroundings
- A quieter journey
- A different atmosphere from a conventional petrol-powered off-road tour
The silence of the vehicle is especially noticeable once the route leaves the main roads and enters the forest sections of the Meteora UNESCO Geopark.
IMPORTANT: THIS IS A LONG OUTDOOR ADVENTURE
This experience is designed for adventurous travelers who want to make the most of one full day from Athens.
It is important to understand that this is not a short, passive sightseeing excursion.
The complete day lasts approximately 14.5 hours, from the 07:45 meeting time until the approximate 22:30 return to Athens.
The Meteora portion includes around 4 hours+ of outdoor driving, with both paved and dirt-road sections.
Depending on the season and weather, you may experience:
- Sun
- Wind
- Cold
- Rain
- Dust
- Mud
- Wet trails
- Rapidly changing mountain weather
Come prepared and you will be able to enjoy the adventure comfortably.
WHAT TO BRING
We strongly recommend bringing:
- Valid driving licence if you plan to drive
- Comfortable closed shoes

Do not wear your best clothes for the off-road portion.
Dirt trails may be dusty, muddy or wet, and getting a little dirty is part of the adventure.
A dry change of clothes can be particularly useful before boarding the coach for the return journey to Athens.
MONASTERY VISITS
The route includes the opportunity to visit inside 2 active monasteries.
The exact monasteries visited depend on:
- Daily monastery opening schedules
- Religious events
- Accessibility
- Traffic
- Weather
- Operational conditions
The exact monasteries therefore cannot be guaranteed in advance.
You will still see all 6 active monasteries from outside during the Meteora route.
MONASTERY ENTRANCE FEES

Guests should bring cash for entrance payments.
MONASTERY DRESS CODE
Meteora remains an active Orthodox monastic community.
Appropriate clothing is required to enter the monasteries.
Guests must respect the clothing requirements established by each monastery.
As a general rule:
- Women: shoulders should be covered and suitable below-the-knee clothing is required.
- Men: sleeveless tops and very short shorts are not suitable.
- Follow the instructions of monastery staff regarding dress requirements.
GUIDING INSIDE THE MONASTERIES
Your professional local guide leads the Meteora and buggy experience.
A licensed guide inside the monasteries is not included.
SMART AUDIO GUIDE
The experience includes access to a Smart Audio Guide covering 20+ points of interest around Meteora.
The guide is available in 10 languages.
Guests should bring:
- A fully charged smartphone
- Their own headphones
The audio guide complements the experience with information about Meteora’s monasteries, history, landscape and important sites.
WEATHER & OFF-ROAD POLICY
The electric buggy portion is weather-dependent.
Adventure does not mean taking unnecessary risks.
If weather, mud, road conditions or another operational factor makes the buggy route unsuitable or unsafe, we may modify the off-road itinerary.
If conditions make it impossible to safely operate the buggy experience, your Meteora visit will continue by sightseeing minibus with a local guide instead.
You will still experience Meteora’s main monasteries, viewpoints and highlights.
A partial refund will be provided for the change from the electric buggy experience to the minibus sightseeing tour.
We will notify guests of significant operational changes whenever reasonably possible.
